DEWRSB September 1999 - Present Contractor Canberra, ACT I'm currently working for the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations on the Australian WorkPlace web site (http://www.workplace.gov.au) - predominately on the JobSearch & VolunteerSearch sub-sites - as well as the JobSearch Touch Screen Units at Centrelink offices. This role started as a mixture of development and maintenance and has now evolved into a predominately System Architecture role, especially as the WorkPlace web application is migrated to a .NET based three tier architecture. |

Freelance June 1999 - August 1999 Consultant Canberra, ACT This involved freelance ASP/SQL development work for a couple of Sydney-based firms. The work was a combination of developing new systems and maintaining existing ones. The most interesting project was the development of an Intranet based Profiling system for a Professional Recruitment firm. |

ASPECT Computing June 1995 - December 1996 Consultant Canberra, ACT As a member of an onsite development team (for a public service department), I was primarily responsible for the design and implementation of both a client system (written in Visual Basic) to replace a paper based system, and a migration of an existing DOS-based system to a Windows system (written in both Visual Basic and C). I was also responsible for the development of an R&D Intranet system, which involves HTML-based forms communicating with an SQL Server. It was also my responsibility to investigate and identify opportunities for Internet/Intranet development. |

Phase3 Software January 1994 - June 1995 Software Engineer Canberra, ACT My primary duties at Phase3 were, as both a member of a team and as an individual, the design and development of core and support software in Pascal and C/C++. As part of these tasks I was required to research and evaluate new development environments, API's, operating systems and design methodologies. SoftLaw Corporation January 1992 - December 1993 Software Engineer Canberra, ACT While working for SoftLaw I had a large range of duties. Initially I was involved in the development of components for a Client/Server front end for a New Zealand Government department. This involved eight months of on-site development as a member of the development team. The areas I was primarily concerned with were user interface design, development of screen components and Microsoft WordBasic macros, and Technical Documentation. At the end of this project, my duties largely involved Technical Documentation, User Interface Specification and Design and development of small-scale applications. |
