Help on the history of my Spit by Todd Wilson 17 Feb 2004

Can anyone shed any light on the commission plate above? Anybody with Australian delivered Spitfires have anything similar?

Update
The story is that this was one of 2 factory prototype GT6 convertibles assembled in Australia. Found this out from someone I ran into at a hill climb (cheers Paul!) that knew a previous owner of the car. Hoping to try and find out some more, but it is probably all a story.
I'd just like to know a bit more about the car. For more info on the car, see here.

Todd,
Have you asked the Britsih Motor Industry Heritage Trust about your car? They will sell you the famous 'birth certificate' and should be able to tell you if it was a special export or something, from the Comm.No.

4/4/2005 - Shaun Hanson:
Hi Todd,
I have the same plate on my 1964 Spitfire, which I bought while living in NZ - I'd love to find out the background to it. Incidentally, I have now relocated back to the UK and have shipped the car back here with me!

Regards, Shaun

Hi Shaun,

Apologies for not replying sooner to your comments. Please email me on admin at gt6 dot com (it is a shame you have to do this to get around those blasted spammers) as I'd be keen to get the details on your plate.

Cheers,
Todd

I finally applied for a BMIHT certificate the other day. Heard back from them today - wasn't surprised to find out that it was a CKD kit sent to Australia so they don't have the details for it. Damn. Oh well, it was worth a try.
